Meet the Principal - Steven Speyrer
Mr. Speyrer received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Science education and Master’s degree from the University of Houston in Educational Administration and Supervision. His 27 years in the education profession include four years teaching Biology and Chemistry in Louisiana and five years teaching in Katy ISD. He served as an assistant principal for four years at both the middle and high school levels in Alief ISD before moving to an associate principal of instruction for five years at Elsik High School in Alief ISD. Mr. Speyrer’s educational journey took him to Spring Branch ISD where he served as principal at Landrum Middle School for six years. At Landrum, Mr. Speyrer led the campus to receive the School’s Transforming Learning award from the N2 Learning Leadership organization. His journey then took him to work with new intern teachers for the Teachers of Tomorrow certification program in the Houston metro area for two years. This past school year, Mr. Speyrer was the principal of the STEM Academy at Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, New Mexico where he assisted in developing an energy and natural resources curriculum and pathway for the students who were served in the STEM academy. His calling to provide students with the best educational experiences and reach their potential led him back to the Houston area to be part of the International Leadership of Texas team.
